It is SUMMER!! I've been busy hanging out with my kiddos at the pool, while getting my tan on...and letting the house chores slip to the wayside a bit (at times) oops. ( I am sure if you were to ask the hubs, he would say that it doesn't matter what season of the year it is, and the chores would still slip to the wayside! HA!)
Although to my defense, on days I plan on going to the pool, I bust my booty in the morning and work on house chores: dishes, laundry, picking up toys, vacuuming, making the bed, etc. Before we leave for the pool. Because when we go to the pool, we go and usually stay almost all day... or until the kids have meltdowns. This Mama gets her money's worth, and I try to make sure a friend of mine and the kids will be there as well, so its a bunch more FUN! :)
[Side note- I have been keeping up on the chores dishes so well lately, that our cat, Pearl had to bite into a bottle of water that was in a 24 pack case sitting on the floor in the kitchen because I am guessing she was thirsty (I found this out yesterday as I was moving the case of water to mop the floor and the case started to leak water.) Hmm Odd... I thought. Took out that one bottle of water and yep. It had tiiiiny teeth marks poked into the plastic! Pearl must have been out of water in her kitty bowl, and since the kitchen sink was empty- she had no where else to drink water. She improvised. What a smart kitty cat! :)
Today I gave her food and the rest of her pierced bottle of water...and I've never seen her drink up so much water before! Lets just hope I didnt create a spoiled snob of a cat....needing to drink bottled water!! ]
I'd like to also state that my pasty white-girl self- is no where to be found. My tan is coming along nicely. I use an SPF 50 on me and the kids body. And a SPF 15 Bare Minerals foundation on my face (and my husband thinks its crazy that I put on makeup before going to the pool) I had to explain to him the other day why I do this. 1.) to even out my complexion. 2.) the makeup protects my skin, it has an SPF 15 in it 3.) ive never had my face burn while having that makeup on - He says "wont it look weird, that your face will be all white and your body will be tan?"
I said ..."Nope. Because... It is important to NOT tan your face. I dont want to my face age before my time and get wrinkles, and sun spots sooner than I should. Or look like Magda or Tanning mom. Plus, I can always use a powder bronzer to make my face darker to match my body.
I have already stupidly exposed my skin to lots and lots of sun and tanning beds in my younger years without ANY SPF...and I haven't ever been to a dermatologist to be checked out. And, quite frankly that worries that bejeezes out of me. So, now I do like to get a tan via the real sunlight, but I am avid about using a high SPF on myself and the kids.
PS- I am down a 5.2 more pounds since the last post! :) and let's face it....tan
Do you wear makeup to the pool/beach?
What SPF do you use?
Ever been to a dermatologist?
Thoughts on tanning? Via sun or tanning beds.
SPF 110 for this white Hispanic :) Sunlight isn't much better for you than the tanning beds. However, I do agree that being darker does help make a person look slimmer.
